So now who’s the liar?

Advice to Chris Cuomo: if to suit your political purposes you’re going to misrepresent what someone said, don’t do so when there’s clear video evidence of the person saying something entirely different.

On CNN this morning, Cuomo falsely claimed that in his interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC yesterday, Rudy Giuliani said that he wouldn’t advise President Trump to sit down with Robert Mueller because Trump “could well lie.”

But as the clip from the Stephanopoulos makes clear, Rudy was, in fact, concerned that James Comey might lie, and that his perjured testimony could be used against the President. What part of “could Comey be lying? You’re damn right he could be lying” does Cuomo not understand?

As seen in the screencap, Cuomo’s flagrant misrepresentation was too much for co-host Alisyn Camerota, who interjected to correct him:

“I don’t think he said [Trump] could lie. He said James Comey lies.”

This wasn’t a casual mistake on Cuomo’s part. He said he had gone back and reviewed the tape of Rudy’s interview. So either Cuomo was intentionally misrepresenting the truth, or was too dim to understand what Rudy had said.
