Bunch of Bible-thumpin’ racists . . .
That’s in essence how a Joy Reid guest has described Roy Moore’s supporters. On Reid’s MSNBC show this morning, Eric Guster, an Alabama lawyer, said:
“Roy Moore’s coalition, they [are] in the rural counties. The Bible Belt. The people who love to go to church on Sunday. The ones who want to build a wall and keep brown people out of the United States.”
Reid devoted considerable time to prognostications as to who would win the Moore vs. Jones race, and why. But she conveniently excluded any mention of the flyer the Jones campaign has circulated suggesting that a black man who “went after high school girls” could never be elected.
The flyer has drawn condemnation from all sides, including at The Root, a magazine of black culture. A column there is headlined: “A Racist Flyer Might Cost Doug Jones the Election Because the Entire Democratic Party Is Trash.”
